I will be fasting this ThanXgiving again - this has been a tradition since 1998. I hope some list members will be joining me on this day of torture, death, greed, selfishness and debauchery by doing the same. I think that is such an original idea! There are so many things that repulse me about how others view this holiday. Thanksgiving, in my view, should be about gratitude for everything we have in our life...including wonderful foods to choose from. But to so many people "out there" it's about turkeys "turkey day" (errr, this is so irritating), overeating and making a pig of yourself and then watching football. It's like the spiritual aspect of the tradition is totally lost. That's why this year I am going to a veg event first and then to my sisters non-veg event. I know at the veg event it will be more deeply satisfying because we will all celebrate the joy of living without eating animals and being so grateful that we have so many foods to choose from that we don't have to. I always come back from these events feeling happy and joyous. Next I will go to my sisters and it won't have the same feeling at all...but at least I don't expect it to. Fasting is a great thing to do ESPECIALLY on this holiday because it's the exact opposite of gourging ourselves. And when you fast you'll have more time and less distractions to think about what the holiday means to you. good luck! Kristina
