Guest guest
Hi Jill, My religion must be different than yours....since it's not irrelevant to their issues and their story. And I don't force anything on anybody ..... my clients are happy with my services and I am happy serving them. Have a nice day! Guest guest
I have been lurking and learned a lot from this group as well as enjoyed your humor. I now feel obligated to share another point of view of social work. I also am a social worker. As stated in the NASW code of Ethics, I do not bring my religion in to conversations with my clients, as my religion is irrelevant to their issues and their story. I also support my clients in their decisions. I may have my own feelings, but since I have never been them in their situation, I can not fully understand what they are experiencing. If I did have conflicting values, I would not be working with them for fear that I may intentionally or unintentionally persuade them to my beliefs. I wanted to share this with you so that if anyone reading this board does come to a point in their life where a social worker would benefit them, you will know that we are to be supportive of people without our personal beliefs influencing us. Unless of course, you go to an agency that is based on certain faiths or beliefs, but that is an exception.
