It was really good. We got there around 1pm I think. I had to meet my coach

at 8.30am (which meant getting up at 5.30am, not something I relish doing on

a Saturday morning, or any other morning for that matter!) and then we

picked up people in Birmingham and then in Coventry. Our coach was nearly

full. When we got there there were a lot there already. It says on

www.primateprison.org that there were about 1500-2000 in total in the end

(there's a big description of the day with photos. There was a marquee

showing a video (I didn't watch it because I knew how horrific it would be),

a few stalls selling clothing, food and drink, books and other merchandise.

There were a few speakers first. Then at 2pm we started the march around the

centre of Cambridge. It lasted two hours. We gave out leaflets, held up our

banners and placards, you know... the usual stuff. Stopped at two points on

the way for more speeches (including the current animal labs - had one

minute silence there for all the animals that have been killed :-( ). There

were no arrests and it was all very peaceful. Some footage of it was shown

on Channel 4 news Saturday evening at 6.30pm with a debate between a UK

animal tester and a US doctor who knows you don't need to use animals for

research. I guess we now wait and see what feedback we get. Everyone pray

that the government does not give the Uni the go ahead to build the lab.

The next demo I'm going to go on is a national demo at Huntingdon Life

Sciences which takes place on Saturday Dec 6th. I think there will be

coaches going from around the UK again so I urge everyone to think about

going. It is a really worthwhile day, everyone's really friendly and the

more people that stand up against these horrific animal tests and for the

animals the better.
