i have an off topic question ...

i'm about 75% raw and am 100% vegan ... i had a root canal done about

3 years ago ... i assumed it was always better to save the tooth ...

even so, i waited to go back to get the crown ... and the tooth never

felt right to me anyway ... not like the rest of my teeth ...

so, i cracked/fractured the tooth, developed an infection, and i don't

think it can be saved ... i expect i'll get an extraction done when i

see the dentist on tuesday ...

my question is, though, how do raw foodist feel about root canals in

general? ... i've read opposing views and as much as i hate loosing a

tooth (a molar ... and i'm devastated ... all my other teeth are

excellent) ... i'm not very upset at having the root canal removed ...

i've kind of felt " off " from when the tooth first " died " ... had the

intense pain for a few days, then it went away suddenly (i assumed it

was better, it wasn't) ... i think because i was generally healthy it

took another 2 years to actually abscess, then i waited another 2

years to get the root canal ... now it's 3 years with the root canal

.... and i just seemed to feel worse and worse ... but gradually ... so

i didn't blame it on the root canal, usually (but did mention it a few

times) ... then i had this last infection after it cracked and i

turned into a basket case ... anxiety, depression, feelings of doom,

etc ... after a few days of antibiotics, all that went away for the

most part ...

crazy story, i know ... i just was wondering if anyone else had root

canal stories they'd like to share ...

blessings,

lisa

I've had the 'ole root canal before. It required a second

treatment a few years after the first when it got reinfected.

It turns out my dentist missed a canal. The next time, she

referred me to a specialist who used a microscope (whereas

she'd been literally feeling around in the dark). He was

the one who found the extra branch.

Regarding your other email about how to follow-up. I would

personally use probiotics simultaneously with and after the

antibiotics. Probably a personal choice. If you don't want

to take them in concentrated form, you could always search

out (or make your own) batches of sauerkraut or kimchi.

Here's how I make my purple kimchi:

There you'll also find some resources in the comments.

Hope this helps. You'll be back in action in no time. :)
