Raw Food and Discrimination?

12.24.08

An open letter to the Raw/Living Food Community:

RAW FOOD MEETS IGNORANCE. I called The Anne Wigmore

Institute

in Aguada, Puerto Rico intending to vacation there

until the person over the phone mentioned, by rote,

that THEY DO NOT ALLOW HIV+ PEOPLE TO STAY THERE! (or

with any " communicable diseases, " she said, as if that

explained it.) She then went on to tell me that to

work there requires testing negative for HIV in a

yearly, mandated test!

Make no mistake, I'll never spend another penny there

until that policy changes! I left a message on their

manager's voicemail letting them know exactly how I

felt, pointing out the obvious: how HIV is not so

easily transferred, that this discriminatory policy is

definitely unethical if not illegal, reeks of

ignorance AND flies right in the face of Anne

Wigmore's original mission to CURE HIV+ people!

Finally, I assured them I would broadcast their policy

to as many people in the Raw Food Community as I

could.

Disturbed by this? Then please pass this on and take a

few minutes to contact the people at AWNHI to let them

know! (Contact info below.)
