Guest guest
Greetings, and thank you for your questions. In a nutshell: 1. Obtain information, such as The 80/10/10 Success Guide, such as this conversation. 2. Obtain a food scale, postal scale ... anything that weighs in increments of grams or partial ounces. Cheapo is fine!! :) Then you measure your foods ... not for long, just until your eyes and mind become accustomed to what various portions look like. For some people this takes a few days, most use the scale extensively for a few days to a couple of weeks, then use it only occasionally to refresh their own mind or when a new food comes in (as when the seasons change). 3. You pause and reflect, distinguishing between quantity and percentage. For example, in almonds the PERCENTAGE of calories from fat is 73 (73% of calories are from fat). It doesn't matter how many almonds you eat. However, the NUMBER (amount) of calories depends entirely on how much you eat. 4. Create a free account at www.Nutridiary.com. If you wish, we have a free tutorial I can send you ... not yet published, so we send it out one copy at a time upon request. It's an audio program accompanied by an extensive handout filled with screen shots, courtesy of the Path of Health Community. (That's my home group and where I publish most of my " core " posts.) Use your Nutridiary account for a few days, perhaps occasionally thereafter, to give yourself an idea of what you're actually eating ... your caloric mix of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. The software creates little tables and pie charts and so forth, very easy to interpret once you play with it a bit. (Tutorial can help with that.) In my experience, most raw fooders who do these things are shocked to learn that they are presently consuming 50-80% of their calories as fat. There is no diet of such construction that is healthful for humans, in the long run. I hope you dont mind a few questions. How do you know how much is 10 %fat or protein. Is that a half a cup of nuts, seeds? One avocado a day? and are nuts both fats and proteins? Can you tell me what you eat in a day exactly if you are following this diet. I really think that there is too much nuts in some raw dishes , but wonderign how to feel full. The key always seems to be more fruits and more veggies it seems. Thanks so much for sharing this info.
Guest guest
As regards the scales, I've negotiated a 10% off coupon with the owner of Old Will Knott Scales for my blog readers. Since he changes the code on a fairly regular basis, it's best if you just click on my signature and scroll down to find the latest in the sidebar. I have both food and body weight/fat scales from him. Nice guy and a good selection. Guest guest
Yes please send me the tutorial, I checked out nutridiary, it looks like it could be very helpful if I knew what to do. I know that I am eating too much fat, cause I have gained 3 lbs but that is my my chemistry, I can def find raw meals without seeds or nuts and I am planning on making them reg from now on. What do you think of one whole fruit meal such a smoothie, one smoothie made of moslty veggies and some fruit and a large salad and one serving of nuts or seeds in one meal such as lunch or dinner. Would that be close to 80/10/10?? Again thanks for your help. rawfood , " Elchanan " <Elchanan wrote: > > Greetings, and thank you for your questions. In a nutshell: > > 1. Guest guest
Hi! Maybe I can offer an example of my food intake. I currently eat according to the 80/10/10 lifestyle. My meals typically consist of about 500-600 calories of fruit or blended fruit (smoothie) for breakfast, around 600-700 calories of fruit again at lunch, and then a LARGE salad at dinner. My salad is prepared in a serving bowl that holds 12 cups of salad. I put toppings like tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet peppers, chopped zucchini, okra, etc on top. If I choose to have overt fats (nuts, seeds, or avocados) I do so with my dinner meal. Fats digest better with veggies and are slower to move through our bodies, so night time seems the best time to have them. A few nights a week, I have 2 oz of avocado (about 1/2 of the avocado) chopped on my salad. If I have nuts or seeds, I try to limit that to 1 oz and never eat those on a day I have the avocado. I don't typically eat nuts and seeds on a regular basis because I find that I feel better when I don't eat them. I hope this helps. ~Sarah email4ebay2005 <email4ebay2005 wrote: Yes please send me the tutorial, I checked out nutridiary, it looks like it could be very helpful if I knew what to do.
