Guest guest
Sounds like you had a great time, and I loved your report about your dinner out. I guess if you go to a nice restaurant with a professional chef, it can be quite a pleasant experience. It is sad how we as a people seem to disregard our environment, and how the fastfood nation mentality thinks nothing of tossing the wrapers and rubbish everywhere but in the proper place. Now I would think in a beach community that people would be more health conscious and evironmentally aware. It is interesting to read from you how difficult it was to find vegetarian food there. Good to have you back with us! ~ pt ~ I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship. ~ Louisa May Alcott ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~> , " Nancy K. Most places that my hubby and I ate at had NO vegetarian options. Thankfully, our anniversary dinner spot had a great waiter who suggested a vegetarian pasta dish for me, but it was made with a cream sauce, and I pointed out that I was a vegan. He then said he would talk to the chef, who made it, the same dish, with the roasted vegetables, with a marinara sauce for me, and it was TOO DIE FOR! Best veggie pasta I have ever eaten, so our anniversary was very pleasent! There was so much polution on the shoreline due to the things they allow there it was just really really sad...made me tear up....*sigh*..what are we doing to our world! Guest guest
Welcome back Nancy. I'm glad you two had a good time. Shawn ----Original Message Follows---- " Nancy K. " <nkohn Back from vacation Wed, 2 Jul 2003 19:02:18 -0400 Hi gang... Back from our Florida vacation. I have to tell you, Daytona is NOT a vegetarian friendly place! We went to the local Walmart to stock up on groceries and they did'nt even have an organic section...did'nt know what hummus was, and had NO organic or whole grain bread! We ate in a lot, and I had a LOT of salad bars when we were out! I managed to stay on my vegan journey throughout the entire vacation! We had a great time, but its good to be home...as they say, there is no place like home! The drive was nice and the weather was great! I don't like big Florida bugs though! *uuuggg* One thing that made me very sad, other than the lack of vegetarian places to eat, was the way the commericalization has taken over. Driving on the beach, next to turtles laying eggs and hatching young, is just wrong! There was so much polution on the shoreline due to the things they allow there it was just really really sad...made me tear up....*sigh*..what are we doing to our world! OK, off my soap box, its good to be back! Nancy
