Guest guest
<<Happy New Year to you too and here is to spoiling yourself! and to all happy new year, it is interesting to find out the things that people are in to I know sometimes though that it can go a little bit crazy so I will try to be brief I coach the team-what is most important is that tthe kids do the work I have a great partner inthis-he is an engineer & project manager My background is in theater-directing & art so all together is as good combo I have the kids for most of the meting but then the other coach gets us back on target for deadlines & such It's a really right & left brain coaching team The kids are great They range in ages 14-9 & have worked very well NOt only arethere technical elelments such as motors and robot building & programming but there is a research and presentation project all wtihin rules & constraints i have sent these videos out before-they show the tournament but not the presentation part The theme this year was power puzzle and the kids had to research energy & alternative energy. We are giving a public presntation to show the community robotics and to do our skit on alternative energy. The kids went to a windturbine and had a tour of a solar panel and some other neat things here are so videos thefirst is pumped up & we won't make it to nationals this year -we aa rookie team and just wona mini tournament but our big one is Jan 12 _http://www.youtube.http://wwwhttp://www.yo_ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Bpjo2dT47c) this one is more showing just what the robot does _http://www.youtube.http://wwwhttp://www.yo_ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8DDr24BqZU) andof course we hope someday to go to internationals! _http://video.http://videhttp://vidhttp://video.<WBhttp://vi_ (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4917886218520834609) but that is a dream for now sorry to go on we are excited btw our team is Robodudes>> Robodudes - so does that mean there are no girls. I know my son 27 - when he was young was " duding " all his friends. I thought it funny at first but then everyone was a " dude " . It was rare they said a sentence without " dude " in it. Seemed it was just for the boys or has that changed? Just watched the first video! WOW! What a WONderful way to start the new year with a song saying " The Future has Arrived Today " and seeing kids with smiles - variety of hats - happy faces - ingenuity - excitement! I got the International video to work but not the second one only a minute glimpse and could see a car that looked a bit like a fly. I tried 3 times. I love anything solar - raw and solar seem to go together. Both healthy for earth. I have a great respect for engineers. And I LOVE art. Creative expression is something I enjoy dong (not so well) and SO appreciate. Makes my life more enjoyable and I think others lives also. Perfect balance indeed! I am taking courses to get my " engineer " logical brain more in balance with my intuitive artistic part. I'm always taking some course. It's a blessing to you and the young people - so much better than not using brain and just zoning on video garme, junk food, and becoming useless to society. I'm so glad I asked you what your dong? Have you thought of doing that in a Senior Center? I wonder how many would be interested. ... ME ... pick me.... Actually I think all ages would find that interesting. We do need to learn and play until we are outta here! What fun! There are 3 Senior Centers near me and can't get them interested in a ping pong table - I am going to try harder in 2008. I'm off to do my aerobics. Getting a rebounder (mini- trampoline) in the mail soon. I hear Doug Graham knows a lot about that. Guest guest
Hi Louise, we have 2 girls on the team One girl liked the name but one didn't Namingthe team was one of the hardest things-originally it was NXT generation but that didin't fit. we also had Robonubes which everyone liked but the youngest couldn't pronounce it- anyhow it ok the name can even change next year if we want. As for seniors I used to work in a nursing home_ i love the elderly My Dad goes to a senior cneter sometimes so it is a thought. It is just hard to bring everything I'll be 50 myself ina about 3 years...I hope I'll be rebounding too as I head towards 100! I agree about the sun and raw Last summer when I was raw about 1`00 % and getting out in the sun I felt like a kids again it was great.
