Yes, this term is used, along with " enteric brain " and " abdominal brain " .

But his is not entirely accurate. It is more accurate to say that a

substantively independent nervous system exists in the abdomen. But it

highest-order functional components are ganglia, there is no " brain " in the

true sense.
