Guest guest
Are almonds sold in the shell required to be pasteurized or chemically treated? If not, is this then a good way to access truly raw and organic almonds? I remember as a child on holidays eating nuts after dinner and having to shell them. It required a little effort and slowed down the eating process (now I tend to pop handfuls in my mouth). Seems like a nice, old-fashioned way of eating nuts that might be worth revisiting. Also, are nuts in the shell less likely to go rancid? Some nuts, like Brazil nuts, seem to go rancid easily.
