Guest guest
Alex, It sounds like you are off to a good start, as long as you are moving forward in the general direction you should continue to see improvements in your health. Take the transition at a speed that is comfortable for you, and don't feel pressure by any thing you read here. (in rawfood). I started out by jumping in with both feet completely unprepared and as a result spend about a year and half struggling and fighting with myself. So much guilt for falling off the wagon, and it was completely unnecessary. I would caution you to be careful with the oils, they are very high in fat and it can add up fast. One of my favorite foods during the very early part of my transition was a cooked pasta dish that had oil and pine nuts. Very tasty, and a huge improvement over the McDonalds / Burger King life style that I had before.... but I don't even want to know how much fat was in it. It would probably scare me now! Have you already removed meat and diary from your diet? My taste buds really started changing once I removed those two offenders! Enjoy your journey and continue to ask question! Gradual is good, I agree. I've changed what I order when I eat out so that I get fresh greens (salads). One place that has " steamed vegetables " often serves them just about raw; it's hard to believe they cooked them more than a few seconds, so I order them. I hate making salads, and probably won't do it regularly until I can get some greens grown on my own. I finally got the Vitamix out today and made some soup. It wasn't that good, but I think I can improve on it next time. Next step is to take the dehydrator out. I do have fruit smoothies every day. I bought some kinds of fruits I'm not used to and am working my way up to trying new things in my smoothies. I do have and love lots of vegetables, so I'm mostly focusing on how to prepare them and make them fun. One thing I've been doing is eating things I already ate, but including some raw in them. For instance, tonight I had regular, old spaghetti for dinner, but had oil and raw veggies mixed in with it instead of the sauce I used to have. It's a start, anyway. I find that even though not everything I eat is raw, almost everything I eat now is organic and most of it is fresh. It's made a big difference in how I feel, and it's part of the transition for me. Much of the stuff I used to eat that was fun doesn't taste good anymore, and doesn't feel good after I've eaten it. Alex www.stampyleah.blogspot.com " Live simply so that others might simply live. Guest guest
Thanks Leah, I appreciate the feedback. I've cut way back on dairy and that has made a huge difference. I don't eat that much meat but without it I'm hungry all the time, so I continue to eat it. I'm really not sure I believe that it's a problem. Maybe it's a matter of personal chemistry? Thanks again for your help and encouragement. Alex _,_._,___
