I also thought really harmful bacteria only grows on cut fruit, which I never eat except in rare occasions from Whole Foods (like when traveling w/o much other choice). Though I buy all organic (except for coconuts) and 90% from farmers markets, I always wash just due to the fact the harvesters probably dont wash when using the " bathroom " in the fields. But that is it.
