Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows of a good website or or similar with information on organic gardening (fruits and veges). It seems even the few changes I've made in my life and my son's have made an impact, despite being met with ridicule and doubt when they first started. Even my stepdad, a " roast on sundays, cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner " type of person, now has a salad with his evening meal! He came home with some " eco oil " the other day - apparently " organic " bug repellant for fruit trees, but packaged just like the poison ones. It seems they're embracing the organic gardening thing (they've commented on how much better my fruit'n'veg tastes than the supermarket stuff), but still feel the need to spray, rather than letting the spiders and birds take care of the bugs. I'd like to get some info on the " least " toxic way of doing things (eg a weak solution of whatever that's mostly water, and can't hurt much if it does). Not sure if anyone here grows their own, but thought it worth asking ) Caron
Guest guest
Hi Caron, I dont know where you live (how much bugs are a problem) but in my area there are a couple gardening stores that embraces organic gardening, from selling organic seed and plants, soil, books, etc. I also got organic plants from my farmers markets because organic gardening starts with what you put in the ground, not just what you dont spray on it. I'm generally not very good with gardening so I've given up on it plus spiders in my area has gotten absolutely ridiculous (large with huge webs) and I am very, VERY arachnophobic, even afraid of webs to the point that we have to hire someone to tend the yards until the rainy season starts. I did get a lot of good information just by googleing " organic gardening " . Its a process that I had to learn as I go. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Caron, I've joined a couple of organic gardening groups through ... not impressed. They are OT more than not. I do to the newsletter for Mother Earth News and their archives are rich in information. That link is http://www.motherearthliving.com. HTH, Thea.
