Eating Enough; On Bias (WAS: Chewing As A Time-Honored Signaling Mechanism; WAS: Green Smoothies Reconsidered)

It's not " not drinking enough " . It's more basic, not consuming enough fuel,

food containing enough calories. This is SO very basic ...

Erica, here we have a real issue of bias. Once you decide that blending is

" good " or " wise " or even " necessary " , then you begin seeing the world

through this lens. And so when someone inquires, as in this thread, you

respond through that lens. And in the process, you completely miss what is

actually, physically happening.

The only issue that can arise about not drinking enough would involve

dehydration. All other issues must involve EATING enough ... fuel or other

nutrients. This, it seems to me, is self-evident.

To become aware of one's own biases is the mark of a genuine Teacher. Very

few ever accomplish this ... which is why there are few genuine Teachers and

many, many confused seekers.

Elchanan

I'm still hungry DURING

You are clearly not drinking enough. My smoothies are huge and I nurse

them. About 3 quarts a day when doing them. I use banana or mango,

cherries or oj, and greens, parsley, and usually young coconut water

and meat. They are ridiculously good and filling. If you are still

hungry, you are not drinking enough and they are too thin, etc.

And blending increases assimilation. It's very relevant! Erica

Elchanan, I'm truly making an effort here to not personally insult

you -- even though it is clear to me that you seem to be taking less

effort in that department. In all honesty, while I agree with a lot

of what you say, you are possibly the most biased " Teacher " that I

have ever come across, though-? You absolutely have chosen a lens,

and even when people grow deficient on your selective views, you do

not even acknowledge their experience, or the possibility that a

wider philosophy is perhaps best befitting of all. I think green

smoothies are great. I have not drank one in ages and don't think raw

foodists " have " to to be healthy. The point is, the concept of

blending foods has been used to therapuetically address deficiencies

and dis-ease in cases where whole foods are less helpful due to

compromised digestion. That you dismiss the idea hardly reflects it

as untrue, just that your mind is perhaps closed. Erica
