Guest guest
I cannot help but observe that one or two people, who apparently love lots of smoothies, have not responded to almost the entirety of the post I shared called " Green Smoothies Reconsidered " . Smoothies are a distant second to chewing whole foods. I did not even begin to cover the ground in that piece ... for example, I omitted exercising the mouth, many things. The only way to justify heavy reliance upon smoothies is to ignore much about our physiology. So yes, chewing your smoothies is nice ... and it doesn't even begin to close the gap between drinking smoothies and eating whole, unprocessed foods. You can chew all day, but the content of the smoothies differs from the content of the foods it contains, unblended. At the very least, whatever is in the smoothie is partially oxidized before entering the mouth. Further, people tend to blend too many items, and to include items that simply are not food for our species, at least not in any substantive quantity. People use the sweet components of the smoothie to mask items they would NEVER eat, one food at a time. This is drugging oneself, not eating. The seeming compulsion some people seem to express to change everything, I find most curious. I mean, is there really something wrong with Nature's packaging and delivery mechanisms? Do you really believe that divinity (depending upon each person's beliefs) and evolution (again, depending upon each person's beliefs) got it wrong, and that you can fix it all with a blender? Sounds rather radical to me!!! " " The article below is a good reminder, but doesn't address the insane hunger and cravings I get when I partake in GS---I dont get that with green juice. Maybe this only happens to me.... " I think it was Gandhi, not sure, but the saying " DRINK YOUR FOOD AND CHEW YOUR LIQUIDS " - is that how it goes? - comes to find. Nobody said not to hold the smoothie in your mouth and let it mix with the saliva. I do that with juices, too (when I remember). Guzzling is never good. Guest guest
> Smoothies are a distant second to chewing whole foods. I can discuss any aspect of your post if you want. Blending fruit with greens is hardly drugging. You said yourself you eat fruit with your salads to jazz them up, etc. Especially " whatnot " . :-) Smoothies are superior to eating a salad, and especially because so many struggle with the cellulose in greens. That is why Gerson, Schulze and especially WIGMORE, among others, had so much success using liquid and blended nutrition in reversing so many different diseases, including " AIDS " . The assimilation is superior. Remember, it is NOT what you eat, it is what you digest!! Erica
