Chewing As A Time-Honored Signaling Mechanism (WAS: Green Smoothies Reconsidered)

Carla,

What you describe is likely a signaling problem. This is solved by an

ancient, time-honored mechanism called " Chew-Ing " . No machine can ever

substitute for this ancient practice.

Chewing, holding the food in the mouth, signals the system about what is

coming. The digestive system then has time to set up and works far more

effectively than otherwise. I mean, imagine calling a meeting and planning

the agenda when everyone arrives. That's roughly analogous to what you're

doing.

Elchanan,

What do you mean? The smoothies seem to be the most relevant part in this

since we need the greens broken down for absorption. The article below is

a good reminder, but doesn't address the insane hunger and cravings I get

when I partake in GS---I dont get that with green juice. Maybe this only

happens to me.... :)

Elchanan,

I do that up to about 2 hours for a 20+ oz smoothie. I drink it like its

wheat grass: slowly, holding, salivating, etc and I'm still hungry DURING

and after finishing it.
