Greetings everyone,

Since many are learning recently about 80/10/10 for the first time and

trying out some new approaches to diet and lifestyle, I thought this post,

written in response to a newcomer's introduction in the Path of Health

Community, might be apropos. Enjoy!

Many thanks to Jim Porter for this fine piece.

Elchanan

Hi Scott!

Welcome! I'm glad you are here!

You seem determined to help yourself. Excellent! And you seem to have high

expectations, as, I think, we all should : ^ )

One comment I have is that four months is not a long time at all. It is

certainly long enough to expect SOME results, but not, I think, to expect

ALL results. Where healthful living is concerned, some results happen in

days, weeks, and months, and other results take YEARS.

With that in mind, I think part of the reason for failures in areas of

health is that, once people are on the path of health, they do not allow

enough time for nature to take its course; so they think they need to " do

something " or " do something differently " because what they're doing

" obviously " isn't working. When, what they really mean is that, years of

self-abu..., er, " sub-optimal living " are not being reversed as speedily as

they would like. : ^ )

Many, many YEARS went into making you, me, everyone, into who we are now.

And I know that, for me, ALL of those years were sub-optimal. There's a lot

of " undoing " to be done, and I can't do it all, or MAKE it all happen, in a

matter of just a few months or years.

I find I often need to remind myself to be be patient with myself. And with

Natures Design. I cannot comprehend fully all the damage I've inflicted on

my organism over the years, and I can't possibly know exactly how long it

should take to reverse all of it, or even in what order things should

happen. I need to trust in the design.

This reminds me of a what I heard Elchanan say as I re-listened to

teleconference number one in the Getting Started on the Path of Health

series just the other day [paraphrased],

" Faith in. Trust of. Patience with. Nature's design. "

All the best, Jim
