Hi Erinn,

Glad that information is helpful to you, you're welcome!

I see 2 topics in your message below.

1. Where do we get our protein?

All life contains, indeed is made of, protein. Every protein molecule is

built upon its own " backbone " , literally a tiny submicroscopic spine that

gives it a unique structure and function. In addition, proteins are the

source of all movement in our bodies. For example, when we flex or relax a

muscle, what actually happens, at the cellular level, is that millions of

proteins grab and pull in unison. There is obviously much more to this

explanation.

If the topic of how proteins work interests you, then I heartily recommend

any of the VIDEOS by Dr. Bruce Lipton, <outbind://84/www.BruceLipton.com>

www.BruceLipton.com.

Bruce was a research scientist at two major medical schools (Stanford the

latter), then realized that everything he was teaching was just plain wrong.

(Sound familiar? I remember when I first realized that almost everything I'd

learned was just plain wrong. What an opening that was!!!)

Bruce's book, The Biology of Belief, is also excellent ... but for the

protein information nothing compares with his demonstrations using pipe

fittings ... just wonderful. And you'll learn much much more ... why modern

science fails with respect to health. Science has a belief system ... it is

a religion, quite literally ... and the health sciences are completely

trapped inside that belief system. We're planning a teleconference on this,

" one of these days " . :):)

Okay, your question: since all life is made of proteins, all life therefore

contains proteins. Every watermelon, every grape, fig, tomato, and the like

provide us with the proteins we need -- in just the right quantities and

combinations for our species.

The big focus on protein " out there " began in earnest during the 1940s, when

the Danish (if I remember correctly) government issued a study connecting

the eating of animals with death from heart disease. Yep, all the way back

then. The American animal food industries descended upon Washington, D.C.,

and made the FDA " an offer they couldn't refuse " : we'll sponsor all these

educational programs across America, if you (FDA) will just endorse this

little picture we brought down here to show you. And the food pyramid was

born, received it's official government endorsement, all before most people

.... including most scientists ... had a clue what was happening. Ever since

that time, we've all wondered where would get our protein. Prior to that

time, no one gave this question much thought at all.

The problem SAD eaters face is this: most of the proteins they eat are

damaged or destroyed by heating. So they really do " need " , in a sense, much

more protein than a healthy human actually needs. But this " need " of theirs

has an awful accompanying effect: all the damaged protein appears to their

bodies as foreign matter. In fact, most of the population is severely

protein poisoned. This is the point of the China Study, the Framingham

Study, etc. These studies all conclude that eating animal foods kills us ...

even in small quantities.

NOTE: Before anyone objects, yes, I am well aware that these studies do not

distinguish organic from commercial, nor raw from cooked. They studied what

they studied, and we have the information we have.

So ... where do we get our protein?? In our food ... where we're supposed to

get our protein!!!

Okay, that response may have been a wee bit more than you were asking for.

:)

2. Cleansing vs. " Detox "

I encourage people to virtually remove the word " detox " and its variants

from their active vocabulary. I have seen and heard enough nonsense wrapped

around this word to make me want to cry.

Instead, I encourage people to think in terms of what is actually happening

.... every living organism (every living cell) cleanses itself to the best of

its ability in every present moment, from conception/birth until death. In

other words, this process of cleansing is continuous (in the mathematical

sense, without a single break, ever).

Each person's being is endowed with a vast innate intelligence, which our

conscious mind can observe but cannot comprehend. One might think of this

knowledge as the knowledge of the ages, passed down through evolution. Or,

one might think of it as divine knowledge, or in whatever other way feels

comfortable to each of us. How we describe this " knowing " matters not. What

matters is that our being knows how to cleanse, restore, replenish,

reproduce, etc. itself. Our conscious awareness has no clue how to to any of

these things.

This is not to denigrate our conscious awareness. That part of us knows how

to problem-solve, imagine, intuit, reason ... all capacities distinct from

those of the subconscious, or the innate intelligence. It's a matter of

specialization of functions, from an engineering perspective, or separation

of powers, from the perspective of law. :):) Whatever viewpoint suits each

of us. :):)

Where am I going with this: if your body is cleansing itself, then there is

something to cleanse. It matters not whether that " something " occurred 20

years ago or yesterday. Your body will cleanse itself ACCORDING TO ITS

PRIORITIES, knowing its present capacity (availability of energy and other

resources) ... UNLESS YOU INTERFERE by introducing some cleanse or other

" treatment " .

If you have persistent symptoms, then yes, something is " going on " . Of

course, I don't know what ... no one likely does ... without talking with

you ... which I am happy to do. Nora Lenz, a participant in this group, also

works with people and is likely closer to you. (I'm in California.) So I'd

be happy to chat briefly with you by phone (write privately if you wish),

and you have a wonderful, local resource as well in Nora.

Hope this " brief response " is helpful!

Best,

Elchanan

Re: Transitioning to 80/10/10: What % are

veggies...?

Thanks so much. Yah- people look at me like I'm crazy when I sit down to a

massive bowl of salad!

I've been 100% raw for just over 2 years now and vegan for about 8 years-

but definitely still have my times of not feeling so great. I don't know if

I'm still detoxing even after 2 years, or if I've just been eating too many

nuts, or dried foods, or raw cacao, and maca, etc??!!

So I'm always fine tuning and experimenting with different proportions. And

still trying to learn from books and other raw foodists.

I love Victoria Boutenko's, and Gabriel Cousins books and ideas, and I am

looking forward to reading Dr Grahams. So thanks again for the information.

One last question- where does most of the 10% protein come from (ideally)?

Thanks!

Erinn

I agree with your post at large. Great post. I think, overall, we all

probably agree on more than we disagree with. However, let's look at

Lymes. The Lymes spirochete. It is estimated that up to 50% of the

people are infected with it. You can go raw until the cows come home,

I've seen people do this, and they feel so much better they believe

they are healing. And yet their lymes count is still astronomically

high. Without the use of Samento, an herb, or other natural

treatments, these people would have lymes for life. This is why

medical testing is so important, as well as an open-mind.

Fortunately, my friend(s) care about regaining their health, not

being able to say, " I'm a natural hygienist " , so they are healing.

Were it the other way, they'd have Lymes for life. This is after

following a low-fat, non-gourmet raw foods diet for a few years at

least, and after numerous fasts, including supervised water fasting.
