Hi everyone, This is a corrected post. I don't know how I did it, but I

pasted the wrong antecedent message from Margaret. This version contains the

correct antecedent message. Margaret, please accept my apology!

Labels, labels, so many people seem unwilling or unable to have a

conversation without resorting to labeling others.

I do not recall anyone using the term " fruitarian " in this thread; perhaps I

missed something.

There is a profound distinction between eating green leaves, which are the

" factories " of plants, and eating the OUTPUTS of those plants, which are

fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and of course their antecedents, flowers.

(I realize I'm oversimplifying here a bit.) I find that most people, from

babes to scientists, lose sight of this distinction.

We are best designed to eat fruits and green leaves. We CAN eat many other

things. The healthiest people I have known eat primarily fruits and green

leaves.

I agree, there is nothing " wrong " with eating whatever each of us eats ...

even table legs, if those seem appetizing to someone. )And yes, even a table

leg contains SOME nutrients. But this does not make it food for humans.)

Many people are trapped in the following line of thinking: if it contains

good nutrients, then it's a good food for our species. But this way of

thinking traps us, it does not uplift us, and it does not lead us toward

fulfillment of our highest potential. Rather, stepping back to appreciate

the whole, Nature's entire design, leads us in this direction.

So as I posted yesterday (or the day before), each of us shall eat as he/she

wishes. A precious few will make a conscious choice to seek out what is

optimal, to become the very best they can become. Those few will discover,

along their journey, that eating true vegetables slows them down, at least a

bit. (By " true vegetables " , I exclude those fruits that are sometimes

thought of as vegetables, such as zucchini, okra, etc.)

Best,

Elchanan

Re: [Raw Food] ELCHANAN carrot juicing?

Yes, Jackie, you *can* eat root vegetables. Many of us do. Ann Wigmore, and

other worthy raw food " names " have recommended eating root vegetables over

the years.

There are some people who adhere to the fruitarian concept, who will not eat

food grown below the ground (i.e. root vegetables) They prefer to only eat

the " fruit " of plants, i.e., what hangs off a plant above ground.
