ALL ABOUT MUSHROOMS

[all the following can be eaten raw, though

many claim they taste better cooked]

http://www.cookwithaloha.com/all_about_mushrooms.htm

Agaricus (White Button)

Flavor: Pleasantly mild and woodsy when eaten raw; delicately flavored when

cooked. Mature Agaricus (open veils and darkened caps) have a richer, deeper

taste.

Crimini (Italian Brown, Agaricus bisporus)

Flavor: deeper, denser, earthier flavor than fresh white buttons.

Shiitake (Oak, Chinese or Black Forest), Lentinus edodes)

Flavor: rich and woodsy; meaty texture when cooked.

Researcher also found that a raw shiitake eaten daily for one week lowered

serum cholesterol by 12-percent.

Leaving aside your personal definitions of these common

English words, I didn't even use the word " edible, " but

to leave it in the subject. I asked which mushrooms are

" safe " to eat raw. So there! :P
