Hi gang!

I am Tiffany and I am just beginning my journey into raw foods. I am

15 weeks pregnant and was very sick during the first three months- all

I wanted was fruit and veggies at that time- it was all I could

handle! So I stumbled upon the " raw food revolution " while trying to

find new ways to enjoy the foods my body naturally craved. I lost 15

pounds, (which I guess many women do in their first trimester from the

constant nausea) and would like to gain only 20 during my pregnancy,

then lose 50-60 after, while also attempting to " cure " my IBS,

hypothyroidism, and depression- maladies I have dealt with all my

adult life.

Now that I am past the three month mark, I haven't been so sick and

I've been eating SAD again and I noticed that other symptoms

(irritability, insomnia, poor digestion, etc.) are coming back (I

barely noticed they were gone because I was so sick and tired from the

pregnancy).

I plan on transitioning very slowly (over the next 2 years actually

since I'll be nursing)- I just don't want to do anything drastic that

might affect the health of the baby. Although I really wish I'd made

the switch before pregnancy...

Oh well, any ideas, advice and opinions are welcome. My plan is to

focus on adding one new " good thing " a month (wheat grass, " green

smoothies " , soaked nuts and grains, etc) and subtracting a " bad white

thing " (sugar, flour, dairy, etc) the following month. Plus I really

want to learn to be creative in recipes so that by the time I am 100%

I won't be at a loss for " what to make for dinner " .

I have a 5 1/2 year old and a junk food junkie hubby (who happens to

have a metabolism of steel so he isn't affected visibly by it at all-

I wish I could show him what his insides probably look like and

convince him that his respiratory allergies are related to how he

eats, but all in good time) so I am really trying to balance what to

make them and more importantly how to resist the chips, candy and

processed foods he loves and brings into our home (plus attract my

daughter to the more healthy way of eating that I am embracing).

Sorry for the very long intro and thank you in advance for taking time

to read my post and offer your wisdom!

Happy Saturday!

Tiffany
