Guest guest
Hi Erica, " Extreme athletes " are called that because there are so few of them. It is unfortunate that the pinnacle of health (or near pinnacle) can be described as such. It's similar to describing a natural approach to healing as " radical " when the mainstream injects chemotherapy, applies radiation, eats pills, and succumbs to the knife as a matter of course. No questions asked. And, all we know about women " losing their cycle " is that there is no blood. We know nothing about whether there was an egg in place and if it merely reabsorbed after its time was over. When I read research articles, the information that isn't there is as important (if not more) than the information that is there. Oh, and I still haven't found a natural Kotex. Maybe there used to be a Kotex tree (can you imagine???) and now they are extinct from over usage. Hehehehe. KIDDING!!! Anyway, I hope this clarifies my post a bit. Janet - great use of language - 'cause an uproar' - LOL! Thanks for the smile. Low body fat percentage in extreme athletes does cause this, yes. They are usually below the general recommendations for women, too, though. So is it a sign of great health then? It really is an interesting topic.
