Guest guest
Hi Janet, And yes, when organic produce is shipped across the country, then that produce is likely to be of mediocre or worse quality. Solution: move to the best food sources, as all the other animals have always done!!! Put another way, rise to the intelligence level of all those " opportunistic organisms " ... you know, bacteria and such. :) If the candida can figure this, can we not, as well? :) (to a degree) Just a thought ... However, there was a time of transition before I started buying everything organic. I see it as a stepping stone. Personally, I wasn't on that stepping stone for more than a few months. I needed to convince my husband to take the plunge, too. And, that was at a time when we weren't eating raw. We were buying all kinds of boxed organic this and that. I laugh, now. It takes time to see the real costs of buying conventional, pesticide-laden, produce. Just like Wal-Mart, there is a high cost for low prices. Also, I've noticed that conventional grocery stores that offer organic tend to offer organic produce that is WAY too green, overly packaged, or next to rotting. I think they are giving lip-service to organic. They even mix it in with conventional produce to confuse the customer. It disconcerts me. Janet - already dreaming of next year's garden. Guest guest
Yes this is exactly right!! I find myself picking up the produce and buying it because of what it tells me-rather than shopping at a store because of it's philosophy In other words " foraging " locally and discovering that the produce is local-it's fresher and tastier-yes thereis one farm stand too to buy from in the summer that I miss when it's gone Even clothes shopping has become foraging- We go to the thrift store and I find such amazing buys there for such a small amount of money I havn't been in a malll in years! -and also Wal mart (8 years now) which surprises people because I have 4 kids Some consider me a snob so it's fun to come here and be considerd common ! :-) Emrawfood , " Elchanan " <Elchanan wrote: > > Hi Janet, > > And yes, when organic produce is shipped across the country, then that > produce is likely to be of mediocre or worse quality. > > Solution: move to the best food sources, as all the other animals have > always done!!!
