Hi Janet,

You're welcome! And now let's take it one step further, still. We have

distinguished " need " vs. " want " , let's also distinguish " desire " .

Need - must have, required.

Want - lack, sense that something is missing; craving.

Desire - Genuine attraction, enjoyment/pleasure not arising from want/lack.

Contributes to genuine joy, enjoyment of life, fulfillment.

Best,

Elchanan

[Raw Food] Numbing emotions with food...was Re: Bored with raw

And you did take it one step farther. I've been realizing this more and

more. Since coming back from the weekend of dying relatives, I haven't been

eating so well. I'm acutely aware that I'm covering up some feelings and

numbing my emotions, as it were. I think tomorrow will be a better day.

Thanks, Elchanan!

:) I'd take this even one step farther ... the word " want " originally means

" lack " , as " We want for nothing. " So want = crave (only at a lower level of

intensity that what we typically call a " craving " ) ==> there is some unmet

need ... and it is not for food!!!

Food] Re: Bored with raw It seems there needs to be a distinction between

" need " and " want " . I don't need to use any recipes. I get through many

days quite fine without them. Occasionally, I want to use a recipe. For

instance, there's a recipe for wrapping a banana in mixed dates and wrapping

it in a lettuce leaf. Or, I use a recipe to figure out the ratio of mango

to red pepper blended in a VitaMix for a salad dressing. I love using my

VitaMix, want to use my VitaMix, but don't need to use it.
