Opioids in grains and dairy products (WAS: Grains and arthritis ... why Pritikin failed)

Hi Anna and Belinda,

My backlog cleanup continues, and I find this conversation between you.

Grains and animal dairy products (particularly milk and cheese from cows)

contain opioids. These are substances from the opium family, close cousins

of morphine. Human mother's milk also contains a TINY bit of some of the

same substances. But when we consume concentrated doses, as we do in breads

(and the like), in cow's milk, and particularly in cheese, the effect is

biochemically addicting. It is no wonder, then, that many, MANY people find

cheese and bread two of the " most difficult " food types to " let go of " .

For those interested in learning more about opioids in dairy products,

please see my post #24734, in the archive.

Best to all,

Elchanan

my arthritis virtually DISAPPEARS when i eat raw.

it flames when i eat wheat and some other grains..but particularly wheat.

my corn flakes (comfort food for emotional cisis moments..remember im

divorcing an alchy) doesnt bother me that way, just gives me sugar overdose

headaches...oats are a problem too but not as bad...im allergic to gluten.

i got my blood tested for allergies years ago...i have issues with wheat,

yeast, milk....how textbook is that? There was something else but i dont

remember what it was..mayb coconut...something i rarely eat so i dont

recall...

so what is that? BREAD...my passion! Which i finally no longer

crave....and BREAKFAST CEREALS....my aaaallll time comfort food...

they say you crave most what youre allergic to most..because of the

rush...just like alcoholics....so i was not the least bit surprised at the

results...

i suppose you could say i fight breads and cereals with milk like drinkers

fight booze...(those that want to ofcourse)...thats my biggest pull.

whole wheat breads!! I keep trying to give them up, but at least once a

week I give in and eat a couple of slices!!

That, and the salt, which represents a strong pseudoaddiction.
