Hydration and Natural Sports Drink - Dr. D's (Doug Grahah) [WAS]Re:

[PathOfHealth] XPOST: [sFLivingFoods] Response to: Information on

hyponatremia - don't forget to eat while exercising

I echo, emphasize and heartily recommend Dr. D's sports drink idea! I've

been using it for about two years now, and it, *combined* with a much

healthier lifestyle, makes a HUGE difference. And if you follow the advice

as listed, and add that fruit meal afterwards, say bye-bye to almost all of

the aches, pains, joint inflammation, etc..etc...Really...

Best,

Bob

(who is just about to go make one of those drinks to take to tennis with me.

It's 88F, with a heat index of 95! Yeehaw! ride 'em cowboy...last person

standing

wins! )

ps - don't read this: do this!

If you consume a preponderance of fruits and greens as your primary foods,

you will not likely experience this problem (once your system has cleansed

and restored itself, over time).

We do not need " salty foods " , if this means foods to which salt (sodium

chloride) has been added. Rather, we need foods that contain sodium,

potassium, etc. ions already in solution in water.

Just make yourself this simple, yet effective, sports drink: Put a banana, a

rib or two of celery, water, into the blender. Blend, then drink as you go.

That way you refuel a bit, reload electrolytes, and hydrate, all at the same

time. (Idea courtesy of Dr. Doug Graham.)

Also, and VERY IMPORTANT: Eat a substantive fruit meal within an hour or so

after you complete your activity. This rehydrates, refuels, and

remineralizes the body with enough lead time for the body to process these

nutrients before the next activity begins.

BTW, the hyponatremia doesn't just begin out of nowhere while you are

active. Rather, the elevated activity intensifies what is already present.

So a healthful diet solves the problem, all around. The problem here is that

people are walking around suffering from malnutrition to begin with. When

they become active, this already-existing malnutrition is merely

accentuated. So the solution lies in total diet, total lifestyle.

Best,

Elchanan
