Hi Anna,

My backlog cleanup continues, your turn! :)

One of my primary teaching themes with respect to healthful living is that

our self-awareness is a cornerstone upon which we build and sustain our

health. The more camouflage we remove, the more we enable ourselves to

perceive ourselves clearly.

Some camouflage involves products, as we've discussed a few weeks

back--deodorants, tooth care products, soaps, shampoos, conditioners,

laundry detergents, and the like. All of these products mask some aspect of

us, separating us from full self-awareness.

Other camouflage involves foods, specifically the use of healthful foods to

mask the real nature of nonfoods we have been taught that we " should " eat.

For example:

1. In green smoothies, fruits mask the real taste, texture, and nature of

bitter greens.

2. In many recipes, various foods mask the real taste and chemistry of

garlic, onions, and the like.

Of course, I could provide additional examples, but I imagine the point is

sufficiently clear with these.

As a generalization, yes, when we have a negative sensory response to

something ... when we feel repelled by that thing through ANY of our visual,

tactile, olfactory, or gustatory senses, then it's probably not food for us.

In particular, if the only way you would ever eat a particular thing is

mixed in with a far larger quantity of other foods, then just leave it out,

as you suggest.

Does this help clarify?

Best,

Elchanan

Re: [Raw Food] The illusion called " smoothies " (WAS: Bean sprouts?)

so the fact that i dont like them should be a sign that i shouldnt eat them?

and my masking it is actually bad for me?
