Guest guest Report post Posted August 6, 2009 We have a list in the files of members favorite cookbooks you might like to view. The SDA fund raisers are wonderful, I have so many favorite vegetarian cookbooks, that I don't know where to start. So for now I won't. I will have to take a look and post some. Guest guest Report post Posted August 6, 2009 There is a list of cookbooks are found in the Files. Click on Files on the side bar of our home page and click on " For New Vegetarians " . There is tons of great info in each folder in that section, including the cookbook recommendations that members have shared in the past. Of course we hope that folks here keep sharing their favorite cookbooks as there are lots of them out there and we enjoy your reviews of cookbooks that you enjoy and use. Judy . Guest guest Report post Posted August 6, 2009 Donna, I totally agree! My most-used cookbook is (still) a 1986 edition of Good Housekeeping I found at a public library book sale for $1 when I was in college. I bought my sister a brand-new copy when she got her first apartment -- those books are awesome for general reference, how long to boil for a hardboiled egg, the differences between different kind of flours, substitutions, measurements, etc. The brownie recipe in Good Housekeeping is the best! Never found a mix that compares! Audrey On Thu, Aug 6, 2009 at 6:48 PM, <thelilacflower wrote: > > > I also use non-veg cookbooks, you can alter most of the recipes. Guest guest Report post Posted August 6, 2009 I'd definitely have to go for:1. " Arabesque " by Claudia Roden (I think)... Although it's not a specifically vegan book, a lot of the recipes are either vegan, or easily converted...2. Sinfully Vegan by Lois Dieterly. (Just wish they'd do a version with English measures!) 3. The Nanny Ogg Cookbook.... purely for the information on etiquette.BBPeter2009/8/6 Mikki <miksadie I love cookbooks. Guest guest Report post Posted April 10, 2010 Interesting about coconut. I had a coconut larabar and felt like I weighed 900 pounds. Other larabars didn't have that effect on me. And slimming, too. Back in the 1940s, farmers decided to fatten their cows with coconut oil. It wasn't long before they noticed the cows were slimming down and getting friskier. The farmers quickly put an end to that. For more info on the health benefits of virgin coconut oil, go to www.pubmed.gov (The National Institutes of Health) to read studies showing the cholesterol-lowering and other beneficial effects.
