Guest guest
Just wanted to stop in and say hello! I saw your group on and decided to join. I'm a Vegan, but had never really thought about or considered a gluten free diet until I read recently about the 21 Day Cleans (Kathy Preston's book). I've been watching Ellen Degenerous and Oprah who are both advocates of this (or at least Ellen is - Oprah just tried it once). I've been having some strange digestive problems lately and decided to give this a try. I haven't official started yet, but will after I hit the grocery store to pick up some gluten free products. I was looking at the gluten free pasta today and WOW it's expensive!! $4.00 per 12 oz!! Does anyone know where to purchase gluten free pasta cheaper? I'll have to eat it in moderation! Anyhooo.. looking forward to reading some of your posts. Jenny
Guest guest
If you have a Trader Joes near you they have a good size pkg of rice pasta that is less than $3.00. They also have a list of their GF and vegan products on their web site and at the brochure kiosk at the front of the store. Using both of those guides helps immensely. Sprouts-Henrys/Mothers/Whole Foods carries several brands of rice and corn pasta shapes that I dont remember to be that much. Sprouts has a hand out booklet of their GF products if you ask at the register. Maybe it needs to be a big turnover store to get the better price. If you google " gluten free products near zip code ________ " , you may find other stores like health pharmacies or specialty stores that are better priced too. On line purchasing can be done too and bulk purchasing might get you low or no shipping costs. If you commit to getting the gluten out of your life to see if you would be better without it - you have to become totally familiar with GF containing ingredients and products and read[= read labels religiously. I carry lists in my purse everywhere --adds pounds to your shoulder. Check the glutenfreegoddess.com site for lots of help with gluten containing lists and using GF flours and ingredients. SInce its not a one for one trade, we have to learn alot from the " been there done that " sources. She is a good one. Best Wishes.
