Guest guest
Ah, chocolate! I lived entirely without it for 2 1/2 years. I thought that the cravings would die away but for me, they didn't. I have worked out a system that works well for me: 1 ounce per day. I am very good about that 95% of the time, despite the little demon on my shoulder that often says " Oh, just a little more, it won't hurt " . That seems to keep the cravings under control and seems to be OK with my body. Some days, I take the 1 ounce from a bar of the best dark, 100% dairy free chocolate I can get. Other days, I measure out 2 tablespoons of pure dark cocoa powder and mix it with a just enough agave syrup (which is very low on the glycemic index) to balance the bitter flavour. To make it spreadable, I add a little water too. Then I put that on some whole grain, gf rice cakes. It sometimes seems like too little but then I remind myself that it is SOOO much better than none. :-) Deborah If I remember right, 1 serving of fruit in the US is one cup, right? In Canada it is 1/2 cup, which I think is stupid! I have cut my fruit way down too, and try to keep it to about 2 half-cup servings per day. I have 1/2 cup with my hot cereal, no sweetener, and then 1/2 cup in the evening. Of course, I have to cut down the chocolate too . . . Pam .
