Guest guest
Thanks for sharing this! While the expense is no news, I didn't know about the tax deductible aspect of maintaining a gluten free diet. Luckily I save all my receipts, simply because I like to compare prices and shop around for the best deal as well as keep track of cost rising or falling. Definitely going to look into the tax thing for this year! The estimates have gone to 1 out of 100 having celiac and just a year or so ago it was estimated as 1 in 113. So more and more people are getting diagnosed increasing the demand for gf foods, which theoretically should help bring prices down as we shift the thinking and production of foods more and more in the direction of celiac friendly. I imagine that in 10-20 years our food supplies will be very different in which wheat will start becoming more of an exotic, expensive rarity while gf is mainstream! Now if we can only get the majority of gf to also be egg and dairy free, we can truly be happy! lol On Fri, Aug 14, 2009 at 12:22 PM, Christine <karizma1010 wrote: > > > http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08/14/the-high-price-of-celiac-disease/ > > Might not be a whole lot new here for the seasoned, but it's always > interesting to see what the mainstream view is. > > Christine > > >
