Guest guest
What I liked about the cous-cous is the fact that I could cook it in the microwave and not heat the house so (I am in Texas, where it gets a tad warm) and it lasted for several meals. (Bachelor cooking does require a different mindset.) While I've been adding precooked millet to the mix, think that I might like it better if I cook it all together, starting the millet or buckwheat first with some water, and adding the other items. I saw toasted buckwheat the other day at Whole Foods, and it wasn't much more expensive than the millet; quinoa was twice as much. Stay cool, y'all. Guest guest
Quinoa is pretty cheap if you get it at Trader Joes... same size package half the price! Guest guest
alas, the closest Trader Joe's is in New Mexico, an 11 or 12-hour drive, and Sam's isn't quite as progressive. besides, the membership doesn't quite pay for a single person. so, it's off to Whole Foods, (closer to me than Sprouts) where buckwheat and quinoa are both $2.69 @ pound, while millet is $1.29. thanks
Guest guest
Crazy Daniel, but inline with what I pay in Canadian stores. Oat pearls are even more ridiculously priced but I get them online from a certified gluten-free oats grower. www.onlyoats.ca BL On Fri, Jul 17, 2009 at 7:06 AM, <danieldale wrote: > > > alas, the closest Trader Joe's is in New Mexico, an 11 or 12-hour drive, and > Sam's isn't quite as progressive. besides, the membership doesn't quite pay > for a single person. so, it's off to Whole Foods, (closer to me than > Sprouts) where buckwheat and quinoa are both $2.69 @ pound, while millet is > $1.29. Guest guest
I forget that I live in a land that caters towards being a vegan or being gluten-free or both! I'm sorry Daniel that TJ's hasn't saw fit to outfit your town with their wares. Just know if you ever come to Portland, OR, you'll be well taken care of--everywhere you go!
