Guest guest
Dr. P said that the Hashimoto's, an autoimmune disease which I developed 10 years ago set up the potential for " metabolic syndrome " .... a syndrome in which a weak immune system breaks down slowly over time and develops other issues. It does not surprise me that I have a weak immune system - my mother died at 46 of stomach cancer, my brother had cancer at 38. I always thought I was the tough one until the Hashimotos struck. Dr. P claims that these supplements will aid PN, perhaps even rid me of all symptoms and then we will do things to boost my immune system - like LDN (low dose naxoltrone sp?) which has proven to boost the immune system. He wants to test for candida, fungal issues and parasites as well. I told Dr P that because I have auto immune disease I thought I was supposed to suppress my immune system. He said this is the greatest myth of all time. Even if we have auto immune disease we have to boost our immune system after we take the first appropriate steps so we don't make ourselves too sick as we adapt to developing a stronger immune system. So, to answer you question, Dr. P's protocol is to fist alleviate or greatly improve the PN symptoms then move on to address all the other issues. I would love to share him with all of you. He is a lovely man and has run this clinic for decades. He is highly respected and a very caring guy. At the same time I know that this is not a forum where we are meant to recommend treatment, etc. Therefore, I'll let you know how I do over the first 30 days once I've received the supplements and you all can take what you'd like from my experience. I wish you all the best - I know we suffer so with losing our normal lives, dealing with chronic pain, etc. I'm just so grateful to have this group where we can share our experiences and try to help each other as much as possible. I am curious as to which supplements were suggested by the Dr as being good for individuals with both Hashimoto's/Graves and Celiacs. Could you elaborate on what they specifically recommended. --- On Thu, 6/18/09, D GRADISKA <allegria47<allegria47> wrote: D GRADISKA <allegria47<allegria47> Re: vegan gluten free diet To: <%40\ ..com> Thursday, June 18, 2009, 10:24 PM Right. I spoke with my doc in California today - I'm in Colorado at the moment... and he has suggested a number of supplements that have been shown in clinical trials to help people like myself who have auto immune diseases. you're right - it's a question of balance and understanding how to attain that balance. I've suffered too long. You might just need to check on the quality of your food and make sure to get enough greens, as well as protein and carb containing foods...
