I started with much less greens. I also started with baby spinach and worked that up to 8 oz, then started adding some of the cruciferous greens. about a cup of acai/blueberry juice (I buy it from Costco) 8oz frozen greens (spinach is blandest. collards and kale are good) 1 cup frozen cherries (I buy them from Trader Joe's) 1 cup mixed berries (I buy them from Costco but the price has just gone up so I need to do a price comparison again with Trader Joe's) 1 tablespoon of either chia, flax or hemp seeds. water if needed. I defrost the frozen things for a minute each. this makes them easy to work with but keeps the smoothie really cold. I have a vitamix so I toss everything in the jar and blend till smooth. These green smoothies don't work as well in a regular blender but they are doable. you have to start off with your liquid and add one fruit, blend till smooth, then add the next until you reach the greens. add greens in smallish quantities and add water as needed. you also need to grind the seeds in a coffee mill or buy already ground seeds. regular blenders can't handle them. The smoothie is a deep purple and is loaded with phytonutrients and antioxidants. another one they love is: 8oz spinach 8oz frozen mango 1 banana water as needed 1 tablespoon chia/flax/hemp Blend till smooth. This one is bright green but tastes like mango pudding. We like to eat it with spoons from a bowl. Shez
