do a google search for health food stores with your zip code. You should

come up with a listing of stores around you that fall in the health food

category. Then you can call and inquire from each of them what they carry.

Many may have websites you can explore. It's a lot of leg work, but well

worth it! See if there's a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or co-op near by as

they would be your best bet for a nice selection. Shelf stable goods you can

buy in bulk through online or mail order. You can buy frozen through the

mail too, but the shipping is expensive, so you have to make it worth your

while and really stock up, which means you need lots of freezer space! If

you have a brand you really like, check for their website or contact info

first and see if you can buy directly from them. If not, check amazon.com as

they carry a nice selection of foods at bulk prices. Vitacost.com has a few

things and $4.99 flat rate shipping. Then there's the allergy grocer and the

gluten free mall, and if you can have soy, dixie diners club and spice of

life meatless meats (uses bragg's).

Some main grocery stores are starting to carry a limited selection of gluten

free items as well. You may be able to find some flours, soups, amy's frozen

dinners, and condiments at your local grocer. Most of the workers have no

clue at the local stores, and even some health food store workers are

clueless! Convienent places, when you have time to browse, just go in and

look around and take note of what they have for you. This is where a mini

notebook comes in handy! If you where in Pittsburgh, I could tell you where

to get what at the best prices! Also I have what we call the strip district

but it's basically a long road with warehouses that are open to the public

offering incredible deals! I got approximately $50 worth of produce for $9

last week! For fresh, organic produce, you can't beat the price! I imagine

there are similar places in other cities. A lot of restaurants get produce

from there so ask the managers where they order their produce from. If you

save on produce, you have more to spend on the other stuff! ;)

Good luck finding some good places in your area!
