Guest guest
Melty Cheese This is a " tried and true " - delicious! It works well as a nacho topping or as a fondue. It's also a great 'saucy' topping for haystacks. I use it in mac and cheese (gf pasta with melty cheese then baked --- see recipe archives). It also works well as a cheese substitute for lasagna. Great as a dip for 'french fries' or as a sauce for broccoli. There are other versions of melty cheese in the archives with a little different combination of ingredients (no gf oats, etc.). 1/2 large red pepper -OR- 4 oz (115 g) pimentos 1/2 cup cashews 1/2 cup nutritional (savoury) yeast 2 Tbsp (30 ml) lemon juice 1/4 cup certified GF oatmeal (-OR- GF alternative eg. quinoa flakes) 1 tsp onion powder 2 Tbsp (3 tsp) cornstarch (cornflour) 2 tsp salt 1. Blend all ingredients well with 2 1/2 cup water (add gradually). 2. Heat in a saucepan until thickened stirring constantly.
