Guest guest
I was not sure if I was welcome here or not when I wrote my other post, but I appreciate you clarifying the fact that there are other people here who are not vegans, as I didn't know! Thanks for sharing that you are in the same situation, it made me feel a lot better! ) There just aren't a ton of options as far as groups when it comes to a diet with so many restrictions! It's not an easy position to be in, and especially when it involves a child. Children cannot easily rationalize health issues or mortality. I have tried to reason with my son for years. But his response has always been something like this, " Mom, if it shortens my life to eat badly, then at least I will die happy. " He is not being a stinker or purposely resistent, he just simply wants to eat what tastes good and enjoys eating what tastes good. I don't blame him. He is actually not a huge meat eater. But the problem here is that he cannot have rice protein since he is allergic, and he hates nuts and is allergic to several. He won't eat seeds, either, and beans are not something he likes. Although he isn't keen on a lot of meat, I am in a very difficult situation since he is still growing, and because of his health issues, his growth has probably already been affected to some extent. And I absolutely have to address the protein issue, but I don't know where to start on it. I am willing to put protein powder in a smoothie, but again, I cannot use rice protein. I do not have the option of using goat milk protein, either. All milks are off-limits. He is also allergic to eggs. So, I feel like I have hit the 'ol proverbial brick wall for the moment. Since he hasn't eaten much for several days, I am losing a ton of sleep over this. I spend my entire day on the Net lately trying to find help . . . ( So, any and all is appreciated with all my heart! , Sally Parrott Ashbrook <sally.parrott wrote: > > In response to Patricia's post, I'll reiterate what Margaret said several > threads ago: > > " There are several, if not many, of us, who are not vegan but who write for > and respond to and learn from this group. Guest guest
If you are looking for a non-milk/non-rice smoothie powder here is the one I use http://www.nutivahempshake.com/choc.htm. It's rather wonderful: creamy, smooth, devoid of many common allergens, and if you do it right chock full of calories. I use hemp milk and throw in flax and fruit and maybe some nut butter. Sally did a blog post on recipes a month or so ago that turned me onto it. http://aprovechar.danandsally.com/?p=599 Margaret On Fri, Feb 20, 2009 at 6:44 AM, heyitsme_di <heyitsme_di wrote: > I was not sure if I was welcome here or not when I wrote my other > post, but I appreciate you clarifying the fact that there are other > people here who are not vegans, as I didn't know!
