Guest guest
Several people have previously mentioned dosas. I finally found dosa mix in an Indian-specific grocery store, after looking at all sorts of other grocery stores. I am so thrilled to have found the mix (which doesn't contain anything artificial--lentil flour, rice flour, salt, and baking soda). It takes less than five minutes to make a set of dosas from the mix plus water. They come out as slightly savory crepes---kinda like if you made a buttermilk version of crepes. The result is so easy and so versatile; any type of savory filling (not just Indian food) is tasty inside. For anyone who's been looking for an easy sandwich wrap made from a bread-like substance, we are really pleased with these. It's been two years since I ate gluten, so I can't say these taste exactly like any other kind of bread, but they are very good. You can see a photo of my first attempt at dosas on my latest blog post, as well as links to where to buy dosa mix online if you don't have an Indian grocery store, here: http://aprovechar.danandsally.com/?p=611 (filled with a potato/pea mix and herbs that one of my Indian friends suggested). Oh, also--I'm usually terrible at flipping things like pancakes, but these haven't stuck. Sally -- " This isn't a matter of Republican and Democrat. It's not liberal. It's not conservative. It's simply common sense. This is a national emergency. . . . You have to be honest about the way the biosphere works, and we have to move this country very rapidly in a different direction.
