I just ordered a case of 5-lb boxes of Better Batter...nowhere did I

get any cross-contamination warnings while ordering, yet now I see on

the box a x-contamination warning for soy, tree nuts, dairy AND eggs!!

All things I am allergic to. ^%$#^ & *%$# Sometimes I truly HATE

ordering things online.

Has anyone had issues with reacting to this mix? I don't even WANT to

try it, am thinking I will have to return it...and I have 45 pounds of

it in my house right now!

Help...

If it's any help, Better Batter provided us the following information when

we started carrying their product:

Test for Gluten down to 10ppm and Dairy down to 10ppm each batch. No latex

gloves are used in production. Ingredients are sourced for potential

allergens, the highest standards for cleaning including a HACCP protocol is

used, and staff are educated in cross contamination

From the look of things I would say the product is co-packed and is done on

shared lines : WITH Dairy, Casein, Lactose, Whey, Tree Nuts (almonds), Egg,

Soy Protein, Soy Lecithin, Soy Oil, Salt, Cane and Corn Sugar

I actually met the one woman from the company at the celiac seminar in

Pittsburgh last month. She has dairy allergies and one girl working with her

also has problems with dairy, eggs and soy, and they both where eating it!

The girl told me she used it all the time for everything! I tried the funnel

cakes they where making and I didn't notice any problems, and I can't do

dairy or eggs. The woman assured me that I didn't have to worry about cross

contamination. I know that companies have to mark on the packaging if

allergens are in the same facility.

Make up a small batch of something and only eat one small bite to see if you

notice any problems. If you have a reaction I'm sure the company would

refund your money. Even if you don't want to take a chance with it, write or

call the company and express your concern and request a refund. Some

companies are reluctant to issue a full refund at first and may offer a

partial refund. Keep pressuring them to get all your money back! I've always

been able to get full refunds. Sometimes it takes a couple weeks, but don't

give up. They should be clear and up front about all allergens from the

start! I haven't actually bought anything from better batter because I think

they are way over priced to begin with! The people I talked to at the

seminar seemed really friendly and willing to answer any questions/concerns,

so they should be easy to deal with.

Hope this info is of some help to you. Good luck!

when I spoke to Naomi a while back she said she has to put those

warnings on her packaging because she mixes it in her kitchen and she

also cooks with those ingredients in her kitchen. however, she says

there is no danger of cross contamination. We're very sensitive and

have had no problems.

I have all those allergies and I use this flour successfully. I

checked with Naomi before I touched it and neither my daughter or I

have had any problems.

she has those warnings because those allergens are in her

manufacturing plant (i.e. her kitchen). there is no danger of cross

contamination and believe me, we'd know in our household if Shira or I

had any soy, dairy or eggs. the side effects are unpleasant.
