Guest guest
I was here a LONG time ago, but unsubbed because my husband simply didn't want to be vegetarian, and it was too difficult to cook differently for everyone, so I got really discouraged. Since I have slid back to omni eating, our health has REALLY gone downhill. My 23yo daughter, and the two of us, have really developed some alarming symptoms, and my daughter and myself have gained weight tremendously! We're in need of HELP. I am also homeschooling my younger five kids, who are 3, 10, 11, 15, and 17. So I am interested in quick, easy, kid-friendly, and CHEAP meals! My 23yo and I also need to avoid dairy, and I'm sure my husband should too, so I'm keeping the house dairy free. And due to thyroid issues, we need to really limit soy for several of us. I am also gluten free, and although I'm the only one who is, family meals need to be GF. Cheap, quick, easy, kid-friendly, SAD-loving husband friendly, dairy free, gluten free--having fun yet? I WILL occasionally use eggs, because I have access to eggs straight from an organic farmer who has free range chickens (really free range--my kids can pet them and play with them as they collect the eggs!). This is long enough, so I'll stop here. It's good to be back! Marilyn (who used to be sahmomof9 when I was here last)
Guest guest
Welcome Back, Marilyn! Believe it or not, I was just thinking about you a few days ago. I remember that you said you were going on a trip, would be back, and I don't remember hearing from you again (yes, I have a weird memory for details). I remembered you because of the 9 kids, needless to say. I have 4 kids and get stared at ALL the time (plus the comments); can only imagine what you must go through! Unfortunately, I don't have a bunch of recipes for you...but your parameters sound good to me. Hopefully someone can give you some recipes, and help me get out of my 'cooking after having a baby' rut. j. ________________________________ sahmomof8 <youhavehowmany Sun, March 14, 2010 5:48:04 AM Returning member  I was here a LONG time ago, but unsubbed because my husband simply didn't want to be vegetarian, and it was too difficult to cook differently for everyone, so I got really discouraged. Guest guest
Hi Marilyn, somebody recently posted this site http://veggiemealmaker.com/ and although we haven't tried it yet, it sounds fantastic! There's a free one week trial so I'm going to sign up for it when there's a time I know I can cook all week to try out the recipes (you can peruse the recipes) Also, have you tried Nava Atlas http://vegkitchen.com/recipes-galore.htm and Dreena Burton http://viveleveganrecipes.blogspot.com/ who have family friendly recipes and often have allergy alternatives? Guest guest
That's so funny that you remember me, J! I have no idea what that trip might have been. maybe househunting? We did move to Florida a few months ago, and we had made two trips down here from NJ to househunt. Congratulations on the new baby! Four kids is really fun--it's getting your toes wet for a big family. Three of mine are grown and back in NJ, but I have taken these six that are here shopping with me from time to time, or out to eat or whatever, and believe me--we get stared at! I feel like a circus act sometimes. It doesn't help that three of our girls have Down's, or that the oldest one likes to hug everyone she passes! I have tried since she was a baby to break her of that, with ZERO success. But most people just love her, and tend to gravitate to her naturally anyway, so it's a losing battle. *sigh* Relax, put your feet up, and let some others here send US some recipes. Guest guest
Thanks for those links, Huyen (hope that's your name--I went by your e-mail since you didn't sign your post ). I will check those out! I did check out the mealmaker site, but couldn't for the life of me figure out if I had signed up for the week's worth of free meal plans or not! I guess it's just in pdf form at the website, and not an e-mail they send you? If so, I did see it. I was just used to the Saving Dinner Menu Mailers you get weekly in your inbox, and that's what I was expecting. Maybe when you you get that? No clue. But it did look interesting.
