Guest guest
as some just mentioned the phony balogny usda pre-school rules i can relate. I opened a liscensed home daycare a year ago with montessori curriculum. in virginia in order to be state liscenced you have to trining and follow there menu rules. i was appalled at the BS in the rules. things like raisins, dried fruit, yogurt, cream cheese (of any kind) could not be counted as a credit food. they could only be offered as extras and no credit would be given for these foods. but things like, fruit loops, krispy cream doughnuts, kellogs pop tarts, sodium , nitrate, laced hot dogs and balogna were okay and considered part of a healthy diet. The list was to long to repeat. I still do drop off care and moms morning out to my natural minded regular clients but i let my state liscence expire because i refuse to have my house stocked with all that crap exposing my kids to it several days a week. I'm glad we homeschool and do not have to put up with goverment bs in the school cafateria. unita
Guest guest
Your 'subject' line says it all, Unita. IMO, the USDA, FDA, CDC all stand shoulder to shoulder as the most crooked organizations in the US government. I found it interesting that MOST of the products you mentioned as being 'approved' are owned by big tobacco. jenni ________________________________ uwalburn <uwalburn Monday, May 25, 2009 10:19:03 AM usda bull pucky as some just mentioned the phony balogny usda pre-school rules i can relate. Guest guest
Doughnuts? Pop Tarts?! Wow, that is unbelievable (but not surprising).. It amazes me how little the government cares about what our children eat (or they are just ignorant?). Thank God mothers like us do care and I commend you for sticking up for your beliefs! Your children are blessed to have you! --- On Mon, 5/25/09, uwalburn <uwalburn wrote: uwalburn <uwalburn usda bull pucky Monday, May 25, 2009, 1:19 PM as some just mentioned the phony balogny usda pre-school rules i can relate. Guest guest
Sounds similar to what our school district did out here. They banned us bringing treats for our kid's birthday unless that treat was on a list they compiled of " healthier " snacks. When I read the list, I was shocked at what was considered healthy (rice krispy treats?? aren't they full of HFCS??) I would rather someone bake homemade cupcakes or cookies, at least there is no corn syrup of any kind in those. Although the school he is at now is in the same distrcit, they are not at all picky and I was able to send him in with homemade treats. Funny how some people abide to rules while others don't and it turns out to be a better choice! , Denise Turner <deniseamay wrote: > > Doughnuts? Pop Tarts?!
