Guest guest
Introducing another thrilling installment of fraggle and his adventures.... *bored yet??* Denver, capitol of the rockies..nestled against the Front Range... Unfortunately, we didn't get to see very much of it. We arrived in a traffic jam(par for course) and did the one way street circle dance as we attempted to make our way to our hotel. Word of advice, don't stay at the Executive Tower, unless you happen to have a fetish for old recycled office buildings, in whiuch the elevators only worked half the time, and the bathrooms(at least in our room) are smaller then a bread box...but, on the upside, it was only 2 blocks from the Beer Fest, and 2 blocks from the 16th street mall. Oh, just in case ya don't know, Denver's downtown (called LoDo) was a horribly depressed place thru the 1970's, high crime, delapidated buildings, the typical downtown scourge of that period. Since then it has gone through a total about face. 16th st is a pedastrian only mall now, with alternative energy buses runnin up and down it, lotsa "upscale" shops and all that. Beer fest was great, 3 days of fun, beer, food, beer, folks, beer, brewers, beer; did i mention beer? Hundreds of breweries from all across the US, thousands of beers; and no, i didn't try em all! heh heh It was truly a blast, some of my faves were a toasted coconut porter from..we have no idea!! utopias, a strong beer from Sam Adams of all folks, its the worlds strongest beer at 50 proof rasberry tart from new glarus brewing cuvee de tomme from pizza port solana beach ovation oktoberfest from linden's brewing maplenut brown ale from tommyknocker saint arnold brown from saint arnold brewing and a ton more i'm sure!!! each session lasted about 5 hrs, there were one each day thursday and friday, and 2 sessions on saturday.. beer beer beer beer oh, and when we arrived on wednesday, that nite went down to falling rock pub, which has an incredible selection of taps..and hung out fer a bit, and ended up running into a ton of people from back home! That was neat. anyways, i could just blather on and on about beer, but, i'll let you all off easy one last thing, this year they added a cooking course exhibition to the concourse as well, and on thursday nite, they had a couple vegan shows! Though, ahve to admit, the chef kept tellin us how much he liked to eat meat and was a carnivore and la ala la, while the interviewer was tryin to steer him back away from all that talk. *shrug* wot can ya do, at least he tried! cheers fraggle
