Guest guest
Ok, I know everyone has been waiting patiently for my opinion (I AM kidding here folk) so I thought I would give it. I do not think there is anything more wrong with keeping a bird than a cat. I think if people give a bird a nice and pleasant life then great! And at least birds are vegan, not adding to animal suffering with what they eat. We used to have birds that flew around the hous enad only went in their cage at night. Birds can be wonderful companions, and actually really like human companionship. Often a large parrot will bond with a person and get very upset when that person is not around and happy when they return. I am surprised Peta discourages birds as pets right off the bat but not cats or dogs. Cats are hunters and outdoor cats spend much of their lives hunting, they have elaborate social structures when they are in large numbers, with more dominant cats and less dominant ones, it is " unnatural " for them to be housepets but they still seem to enjoy it and I don't think there is anything wrong with keeping cats for indoor pets. My only point is, that it is unnatural both for cats and birds to be indoor pets, yet both benefit from it in other ways, and I do no think one is better than the other.
