Guest guest
I have much the same problem and tend to agree that what you are fed when young will have an effect on what you like later in life. Certainly my mother was never adventurous when it came to cooking when me and my brother were kids. I can't eat anything with chillis as it makes my tongue expand. I doubt it's noticeable to the naked eye, but feels huge in my mouth. Every time I'm with people who like curries and other spicy foods, they always find a couple that " aren't hot " and every time the same thing, so now I just avoid spicy stuff altogether. Thing is, I don't miss it. I saw a documentary once on chillis, and they destroy taste buds. I can happily eat a plate full of vegetables and enjoy it, but know people who would find it too bland and would have to spice it up. Gimme the simple approach anytime. Far less work in the preparation. :-) Dave ----- Original Message from Heartwork ----- Hi Nikki I don't know why I'm not keen on spices. Maybe it's because I never had any (other than nutmeg and the like) until I was in my twenties. I love the flavours, but the hotness does strange things to the muscles at the back of my eyes - almost like cramp. I know I'm strange in that respect.....
