If pagans want to coexist with nature and all creatures in a peaceful manner, why aren't more of them vegetarian/vegan?

You'll have to ask them that.

Good question!

I have asked this on a couple of Pagen/Wiccan groups I " use to "

belong to and was answered with a basic " Keep yer holier than thou

judgments to yerself "

Didn't think i really asked it harshly or judgmentally at all. Or

even stated that I thought I was better than them. To me it seemed as

if they knew what they were doing was wrong and would rather continue

doing it than examine their own consciousness'.

nikki :)

Hi Amylia

I wish I knew an answer to that! I do wonder how people reconcile what to me seems to be a big discrepancy in belief and lifestyle (and that goes for all religions!) :-(

The same reason that most Christians etc. aren't vegan. They have not gone that far down the path yet. Most of us probably ate meat for many years without giving it a thought, and must remember that other people are doing only what we ourselves have done. Even if some of us have been vegan from birth they cannot take credit for that themselves. They owe their total vegan-ness to the fact that their parents never fed them animals. While we feel self-righteous by being able to proclaim that we do not eat meat we must remember that we were once as the others are, and hope that they too may come to realise the error of their ways eventually.

Nikki,

(Sigh.)---Isn't it sad when people can't handle confrontation? I'm glad I wasn't the only one with that same question. But don't you worry about a thing. As a matter of fact, I came across a called, BOS-pagan (BOS stands for Book of Shadows.) It had a list of topics discussed, including veganism. It had over 100 members, and many posts. Might be worth checking out.......
