Guest guest
hi les, vegan food is perfect for dealing with low blood sugar.........beans pulses chick peas etc are all excellent sources of long lasting sugar, so are better than other sources of protein for anyone with blood sugar problems.......this advice i got from my diabetes dietician.......also nuts, granary bread, oats, plenty of fresh veg, salad.........not too much potato cause that causes what are called spikes...where it makes your blood sugar shoot up, and after 2 or so hours you get all shaky because it drops afterwards personally for the blood sugar reason, i am having love affair with the chick pea.....i have humous salad and wholemeal pitta for lunch at work.........curry or stew for supper........or of course lentil dhaal etc.............my blood sugar is steady whilst i stick to this diet..........i always have salad and veg like broccoli too........ best not to have more than small glass of fruit juice.......i stick to grapefruit.......beleive me, you can get used to anything if you put your mind to it..............!! also steer clear of white bread......... good luck les take care catherine x >"tgking28" > > > questions for catherine and other's with blood sugar problems >Wed, 16 Apr 2003 23:27:57 -0000 > > >Hi catherine, i noticed that you are a diabetic.
