Guest guest
Okay guys, After the dark choc discussion I went shopping. I could find nothing in the actual choc section, 'cause it all had some kind of milk or butter oil in it. In the cooking choc section, however, I found some nestle choc bits, which I think may be okay. Ingredients; sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, emulsifier (soya lecithin) - may contain nut traces. My question is, Cocoa butter?.... who what where when and why? Unfortunately these bits hold their shape, so I can't melt them down into little bilbys for easter. Bugger it! Guest guest
Regarding Cocoa butter, it is vegan. The word " butter " is misleading because it is a vegetable fat with a low melting point derived from the cocoa bean. Soy lecithin is OK, too. Watch out for whey, of course, as it is milk-derived.
