Guest guest
Hi Fraggle > so, who was Robin Cook and wot did he do in yer administration ? He was "Leader of the House of Commons". Not quite sure exactly what he *did* in that position, but it was a very important position in the cabinet!!! Before the 2001 election, he was Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office - our equivalent for Colin Powell. Afterwards, he was suddenly demoted to make way for Jack Straw, and given the lesser, but still important job, of 'leader of the house', where he was in charge of attempts to reform the House of Commons (=~ Representatives) working practices and involved with (failed) attempts to reform the House of Lords (which your founding fathers adapeted for democracy as the Senate). >
