Guest guest
Hello, I am brand spankin’ new to veganism... I had cut beef & pork from my diet a couple of years ago for health, and fowl around thanksgiving, and thanks to peta came face to face with the fact my slice of cheese is a result of the horrible life of a cow— this weekend I became vegan. My question is this— I’ve been looking at my toiletries (soaps/shaving gel/shampoos) and they all seem to have some animal in ‘em. Anyone know major brands that leave these out? Also, I saw on peta a cruelty free contact lense solution— what’s in contact solution?? Any and all tips will be of help. I realize that it’ll take me awhile to replace all my soaps/toiletries, and I plan to finish up what I have (wouldn’t want something to die in vain), but here’s what I need: Face wash face moisturizer body moisturizer shaving crème/gel body soap dandruff shampoo conditioner Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Patrick Welcome to the list. Which country do you live in? In health shops in the UK you can find most things you want - Avalon, Desert Essence etc. animal free toiletries. I believe Simple have some animal-free shaving foams etc. Failing that you can buy through the internet - The Vegan Society, Animal Aid and other Animal Welfare groups. Good luck Jo - Patrick Llewellyn Friday, January 31, 2003 5:25 PM Vegan toiletries? Hello,I am brand spankin’ new to veganism... Guest guest
If you're in the UK it might be worth your while having a browse at http://www.veganstore.co.uk/ where they have loads of vegan products, even dairy-free Snickers bars, albeit pretty small ones! Guest guest
Hi Patrick and Welcome! First, congrats on becoming a vegan! And thank you as well. It may seem difficult at first, but you'll definately get the hang of it. I buy my toiletries online from a company that is environmentally friendly. Most brand names just don't cut it. And if that particular brand didn't test on the animals, you can usually be sure the parent company is doing something with another brand. Where are you located? There may be some local health food stores near you that can help you out. One of my fav's for quick needs is Trader Joe's. nikki Be proactive, not reactive , Patrick Llewellyn <glendower99> wrote: > Hello, > > I am brand spankin¹ new to veganism...
