Guest guest
The McDougall Newsletter - September 2008Hi Everyone, especially our American members; Dr. John McDougall, physician and promoter of low-fat vegan diet, has prepared the following report on the health of the presidential candidates McCain and Obama. It makes interesting reading for anyone, but as McDougall asserts, may be particularly important for the consideration of American voters. http://www.drmcdougall.com:80/misc/2008nl/sep/presidents.htm Deborah
Guest guest
I found it interesting reading, though of course it has no bearing on who I will vote for in a week (I'm in Canada) I do think that a candidate who consumes a junky diet and is in poor health is not going to be well-informed on issues like organic, non-gmo produce, the agricultural lobbies, allergy labelling, school lunch programs, preventative health care, alternative health issues, etc. The President can also be a good or bad example of diet and exercise for our children, as we've seen in the past. Of course the President suffering a massive heart attack and dying while in office would be inconvenient, but assumedly the VP would be ready to step in as per protocols. Certainly not the sole information that you want to base your votes on, but interesting nonetheless.
